Learning to swim with Room 25.

We are sad that swimming for us has come to an end. However we have learnt valuable water skills such as floating on our backs like star fish, giliding off with support and dolphin dives. What is a dolphin dive? A dolphin dive is where your arms are extended like a rocket ship. Next you push yourself off the pool, over the water surface. Gilding off by kicking to the other side. We would like to say a big thank you to our wonderful swimming coaches for their time, encourage and support. Here's our PENN movie that captures our moments in the water. Enjoy!!

Polar Bears by Sione.

Sione has chosen the picture of the polar bears.
Sione has learnt what are baby polar bears are called, cubs. He's very keen to learm more about polar bears.
Here are some facts about polar bears. They can be found in the frozen wilds of the Artic, in Canada, Alaska (USA), Greenland, Russia and Norway. Polar Bears are very big bears. The adult polar bear can measure over 2.5m long and weigh around 680kg. Their huge size and weight make them the largest living carnivores (meat eaters) on Earth! They are excellent swimmers and have been spotted in waters over 100km offshore. They can comfortably swim around 10km/h using their slightly webbed, 30cm wide paws like paddles in the water.

The lion in the tree by Timothy.

Timothy has chosen the picture of the lion in the tree.
Timothy has written about the lion is sleeping in the tree. He's using the yellow butterfly card to find his sight words to write his sentence. Timothy has also drawn a picture to match.
Here are roarsome facts about lions. They are often known as the "King of the Jungle", most lions actually live in the savannah or grasslands. Lions run at a speed of up to 81 kilometres per hour. Lions usually live in groups of 10 or 15 animals called prides. An adult male's roar can be heard up to 8 kilometres away.

Picnic Day.

It's our school picnic day. We're so lucky to have a local beach to walk to and beautiful weather for a fun day out. There were lots of cool actiivities going on, such as cricket, softball, volleyball, cycling and touch rugby. I think the best ones for us were swimming and searching for small crabs in the water. Thank you to our volunteers/parents who came to help and made the day an enjoyable one. Here are several photos taken on the day of our class and friends.
Listening to the rules from Mr Burt, before we head to find our picnic spot, under the big tree.
McKenna has found new company, it's Olivia's dog, Rocky.
Taylor has his legs buried with sand by Cullai.
Akanesi decides to join in and covers more sand to make the sand hill bigger.
Akanesi and Brian thought to make a sand hill of their own.
Ratai and Joelle are excited, they have found something in the water. What coud this be?
Ratai has found a small baby crab in the water.
Ratai and Jaedha showing each other what they have found, more smal crabs.
Joelle, Taylor and Ratai go searching for more, maybe there hiding in the sand?
Aleyria, Sione and JJ are curious to know what's happening at the beach.

Working with my online learning at home.

Timothy and his brothers are working hard with their online learning at home. He has completed the maths activities of using addition. The question is asking to add these (equations) to find the total numbers of apples. Timothy is very proud of the effort made and his mum agrees too. Keep up the awesome work at home, Timothy!!

Looking out my window by Sione.

What can you see when you look out your window? Sione has written about what he can see, when he looks out his window. He has used lots of wonderful describing words, and has drawn a picture to match. Great work Sione.
